Ari's Bio

Ari Dvorin began his study of music very early at the age of eight.  He grew up playing flute in concert and jazz band later joining orchestra and jazz band.  He also attended band camp.  This  multi-instrumentalist's  roots come from the Middle East, where a good amount of his childhood summers were spent in Israel.  He draws from Jazz, Funk, Latin and other worldly sounds to create a style of his own.

In 1994 Ari moved to Boulder, Colorado where he began an intensive study of the alto, tenor, and baritone  saxophones in order to bolster his arsenal of sound.  Ari's talents soon caught the interest of Colorado's Latin dance sensation  CABARET DIOSA, who recruited him to play the part of “Arturo El Gigante Sabado”, the principle saxophonist.   Ari is a lifetime member of this Latin dance troop where he continues to perform his part in the show.

In 2004, Ari relocated to Austin, Texas known as  "The Live Music Capitol of the World" .  Here, he gained popularity by working and performing with Austin's elite bands and musicians.   The deep talent pool and connections Ari would make in Austin steered him into forming and leading his own band known as The Lowdown.

Ari travels frequently to perform.  In the past he has worked with world class acts such as New York City's Tito Puente and his Latin Orchestra, Karl Denson and his Tiny Universe, Deep Banana Blackout, Spearhead, Ozomatli, Particle, The Big Wu, The Slip, Carlos Washington’s Giant People, and Austin's Bob Schneider (to name a few).   Now based in Austin, Ari continues to pursue his career in music while working in collaboration with many of the country’s finest musicians.

Ari proudly uses EAR earplugs and highly recommends their products.

Ari plays Selmer saxophones and Haynes flutes.
